Closed System Drug Transfer Device (CSTD) use is critical to protecting staff compounding and administering Hazardous Drugs (HDs), and protecting patients by minimizing the ingress of microorganisms into sterile products. Without a single CSTD testing standard, evaluating the devices remains challenging. The final NIOSH vapor containment protocol will hopefully simplify and streamline the CSTD evaluation process.
