Mike is also under contract with Ridgeview Research as an investigator for clinical drug trials, many of which relate to his primary interest in improving methods for controlling Type 2 Diabetes and preventive care to avoid chronic disease onset. He has been either Investigator or Sub-Investigator for approximately 50 different drug trials sponsored by two dozen of the largest pharmaceutical companies in the nation.
In 1995, Dr. Lano was recruited as a family physician and medical director of the Ridgeview Chanhassen Clinic. What began as a two-physician practice has evolved into 6 primary care offices and now includes specialty clinics in dermatology, otolaryngology, orthopedics, endocrinology, rheumatology, and gastroenterology.
This multispecialty group is affiliated with Ridgeview Medical Center in Waconia, Minnesota, and the first free–standing emergency room in Minnesota in the new Ridgeview 212 building in Chaska, Minnesota. Ridgeview Research is also located in the 212 building.
Prior to joining the staff at Ridgeview Medical Center, Michael was affiliated with Shakopee Medical Center, and was elected Chief of Staff at St. Francis Regional Medical Center in Shakopee, MN. He also served as Chief of Pharmacy and Therapeutics (P&T) Committee and was Chief of the Pediatrics and Credentials Committee. From 1992-1995 he was Clinical Practice Director for the Park Nicollet Clinics at the Shakopee and Prior Lake sites.
Michael Lano received a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Minnesota and Doctor of Medicine degree from the Mayo Medical School. Following a residency with the Duluth Family Medicine program, he was board certified by the American Academy of Family Practice and is licensed to practice in Minnesota.
He is a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians, the Minnesota Academy of Family Medicine, the Minnesota Medical Association, and the Mayo Alumni Association.
