Kathryn Schultz

Before joining the HealthEast system, Dr. Schultz was the clinical manager of pharmacy services for the Allina Medical Clinic (AMC), based in Minneapolis and comprised of over 40 primary and specialty clinics. She was responsible for the development, implementation, and management of clinical pharmacy services in the AMC. Kathy’s significant accomplishments included creating a standardized vaccine schedule to limit errors and training all staff who administered vaccines. She developed a Pharmacy and Therapeutics committee, optimized contracting, and coordinated a central purchasing process for the clinic system, resulting in significant cost savings. She developed the funding mechanism and oversaw staff who coordinated a Patient Assistance Program, which helped over 1,500 patients receive their medications. Kathy served as an active member on the AMC Senior Leadership team and many other collaborative committees. She worked extensively with the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) on and received commendation from the Minnesota Commissioner of Health for her efforts related to vaccine shortages.

Dr. Schultz has been very active in state and national health-system pharmacy. She served on multiple councils and committees for the Minnesota and the American Societies of Health-System Pharmacists. She was elected as a member of the MSHP and ASHP Board of Directors, and as MSHP and ASHP President. She received MSHP’s Outstanding Pharmacist and Hallie Bruce Awards, the latter being the highest award bestowed by MSHP for pharmacy leadership. Kathy has been recognized as a Fellow of ASHP.

Kathy has been a busy preceptor and mentor to students from many colleges of pharmacy and has been an engaging speaker to groups as varied as the Minneapolis/St. Paul Parkinson’s Disease Support Group, multiple colleges of pharmacy or state ASHP affiliates, and the Dubai Pharmacy and Technology Conference.

Dr. Schultz received her Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy, Pharm.D., and Masters in Public Health from the University of Minnesota.

Kathy lives in Maplewood, MN, where she and her husband Mark raised two terrific sons and have several grandchildren. She loves to sing, play the piano, and is a proud member of the Spooner, Wisconsin High School Alumni Marching Band. Kathy is an eternal optimist whose dreams came true when the Cubs won the World Series in 2016.
