Visante 
Lisa Howard (BS, CPM, CHP) is Visante’s Privacy and Security Officer. Her career spans more than 25 years with the majority of that time in the Pharmacy Benefit Management (PBM) industry.
She has extensive cross-organization experience in information technology, strategic planning, project management, operations capacity planning, compliance, eDiscovery, and business continuity.
In addition to overseeing Visante’s internal information technology, privacy and security needs, she also provides project management and consultation in the Managed Care Practice.
As a Visante Managed Care Practice Leader, Lisa directs teams in various types of Medicare Part D projects including audits, policy and procedure development, and strategic planning for health plans and PBMs. Her areas of specialization are Compliance, Pharmacy Claims Processing, Coordination of Benefits (COB), and Networks review. She has particular experience with Medicare Part D Compliance for First Tier, Downstream, and Related Entities (FDR) and Fraud, Waste, and Abuse (FWA) oversight.
To aid in this work, she has developed a number of specialized tools to coordinate project planning to increase overall efficiency and productivity of consultant work plans. These tools also provide clients with detailed project information that provide for the escalation and resolution of any additional needs or issues that may arise.
Prior to joining Visante, Lisa was Vice President, Operational Risk Management at Express Scripts, Inc. In this position she was responsible for a wide range of support functions including business continuity and disaster recovery, compliance, IT system reliability, quality process improvements and mail order and call center strategic planning.
While working at Express Scripts, Lisa was also Vice President, Claims Adjudication for over eight years. She was responsible for all claims adjudication and setup systems, including mainframe and mid-range applications. During that time, Lisa's department was responsible for all of the Medicare Part D regulations and requirements that needed to be programmed into the adjudication systems. This involved her participation in various industry-wide work groups as well as collaboration with CMS.
Due to multiple acquisitions, Lisa became familiar with over six different adjudication platforms. These company mergers also provided the opportunity for her to be involved in the requirements of complex systems consolidation, integration, gap analysis, and remediation. Because of her expertise with multiple claims adjudication platforms, she has been asked to serve as a 30(B)(6) witness.
Lisa Howard began her career in IT working for Northwest Airlines and Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad. She received a Bachelor of Science degree in management from Metropolitan State University in St. Paul, Minnesota and has certificates for Programming and Project Management. A Certified HIPAA Professional through HIPAA Academy, she serves as Visante's HIPAA Privacy and Security Officer. She is a member of the National Council of Prescription Drug Programs (NCPDP) and the Women's Health Leadership Trust (WHLT).
